Perhaps one of the more famous locations on the island, Waikiki Beach is actually a collection of several beaches. Although it may be hard to grab a spot during the peak season, it’s popular for a reason – ideal for families, casual swimmers and surfers alike.

Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay is a hot spot for snorkeling, offering swimmers a chance to see unique fish and marine life that cannot be found anywhere else on the island. You’ll also come face to face with Hawaii’s State fish – the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, alongside plenty of green sea turtles!

Halona Beach Cove

Halona-Beach-Cove

Halona Beach is a natural beauty, combining white sand with rocks and clear blue sea. It may be small, but it’s an ideal spot if you’re seeking somewhere more private and a little different from a long white strip.

Kaiona Beach Park

Kaiona literally translates to ‘attractive sea’, and the beach lives up to its name. Visitors will find white sand and calm, turquoise water, plus lots of turtles to spot as you swim!

Kailua Beach Park

Kailua is beloved by both tourists and island locals, and is rated as one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. Not only is this scenic location great for swimming, lounging and taking in the view, it’s also popular among entry level surfers.

Keawaula Beach

Keawaula Beach at Yokohama Bay

Keawaula Beach at Yokohama Bay offers ideal swimming conditions for all. It is a favorite among locals and with a hiking trail along the beach leading to Kaena Point, you can make your visit an all day affair. Plus, it’s less likely to become crowded than some of the more popular beaches.

Papaoneone Beach

With crystal clear water and clean white sand, Papaoneone is naturally beautiful. The waters bring large waves all year round, making it a hot spot for surfing and body boarding. It is often nicknamed ‘Turtle Beach’ as there’s a good chance you’ll see Green Sea Turtles eating seaweed from the reef if you head down early in the morning!

Ko Olina Lagoons

Ko Olina Lagoons

While the Ko Olina Lagoons are man made, they are no less stunning than other spots. With no waves or current, they’re the perfect spot for families, swimming or even paddle boarding. The water is clear, the sand is white and you’ll be surrounded by abundant greenery and palms.

Kahana Bay Beach Park

Kahana Bay beach is set amongst lush green mountains and ironwood trees, making it feel like a real getaway from the rest of the world. Although the water is not as clear as other beaches, the stunning surroundings more than make up for it.

Mailli Beach Park

Mailli beach offers great swimming opportunities during the summer, while some may prefer to lounge on the white stretch of sand and take in the view. With possible wave activity, the beach is also popular among surfers. Plus, with a permit, you can even camp in the adjacent park!

Papailoa Beach

If you’re looking for an upscale retreat away from the crowds, you’ll find it at Papailoa Beach. Just off the luxurious Papailoa Road, this beach offers space to bathe in the sun, take a playful dip in the ocean or even surf when the winter brings larger waves.

No matter which of these wonderful beaches you visit on Oahu, you’re bound to enjoy your tropical getaway in the sun!
